چکیده
Objective To investigate the effects of anti-epileptic drugs (AED) on overall burden disease in patients with neuro-autoimmune (NAD). Background AEDs have shown to provide benefits against neurological damage various illnesses. However, extent role neuroprotection and prevention additional comorbidity NAD has not been completely characterized. Design/Methods A retrospective analysis 34464 hospitalized at a tertiary care center major metropolitan area was conducted. 3997 were AED medications, while 30467 taking any (nAED). 190 had diagnosis. Patients classified according use or nAED (aAED anAED). The outcomes compared included prevalence complications defined as either seizure, blurry vision, delirium, altered mental status, encephalopathy, length stay, ICU admission, comorbidity, death. Results There no significant difference between (0.75%, 0.52%, p > 0.05). Among aAED anAED, there stay (8.7, 7.8, 0.5), admission (26.7%, 12.5%, 0.05), comorbidities (56.7%, 52.5%, mortality (6.7%, 3.1%, 0.3). 36% 16.3% anAED high risk (p < 37% 10% among respectively 0.001). significantly higher encephalopathy 23% 3.8%, 0.0001). Conclusions These results suggest that may be associated an increase high-risk including NAD. Work is progress assess contribution primary diagnoses for which prescribed

Epilepsy represents the most common serious neurological disorder, with a prevalence of 0.4 - 1%. Approximately 30% of patients are resistant to currently available drugs. New anti-epileptic drugs are needed to treat refractory epilepsy, improve upon current therapies, improve the prognosis of epilepsy and to prevent the epileptogenic process. Designing compounds with specific physiological tar...

Urinary excretion of orally administered lactulose and 51 chromium labelled ethylenediamine tetra-acetate (51Cr-EDTA) was measured in 12 healthy adult subjects and in six patients with ileostomies to assess intestinal permeability. In normal subjects, 24 hour urinary recovery of 51Cr-EDTA was significantly greater than that of lactulose (mean (SEM) 2.27 (0.15) v 0.50 (0.08)% oral dose; p less t...

متن کاملNew anti-tuberculosis agents amongst known drugs.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis has an on-going impact on global public health and new therapeutics to treat tuberculosis are urgently required. The emergence of drug resistant tuberculosis poses a serious threat to the control of this pathogen, and the development of drugs that are active against the resistant strains is vital. A medium-throughput assay using the Alamar Blue reagent was set-up to i...
